I recommend utilizing Natural Language Processing (NLP) along with a form of supervised Machine Learning. To start, I will gather numerous posts from various social media platforms and manually categorize them into different topics. Following that, the posts will undergo pre-processing to eliminate irrelevant elements such as excess whitespace, punctuation, common terms (referred to as stop words in NLP), and URL fragments. Tools like NLTK, Spacy, and others can be helpful for these tasks. Afterward, the cleaned text data will be converted into numerical values suitable for the machine learning algorithm, a process known as feature extraction. Subsequently, the preprocessed data will be employed to train a machine learning algorithm. Effective algorithms for text data include Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machines, or even Deep Learning models like Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) or Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for larger datasets. For image classification, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) or similar algorithms can be applied after the images have been preprocessed. To assess the performance of our classifier, we can utilize metrics such as precision, recall, F1 score, and accuracy. Once the initial model is created, it should be continuously trained and tested with new data to enhance its performance. To address scalability and real-time requirements, it may be necessary to integrate distributed processing technologies like Spark, Hadoop, or cloud-based machine learning platforms.
