In my last position, I was tasked with designing and implementing an e-commerce system. This involved creating an online storefront for customers, a management interface for administrators to update products and monitor sales, and a database to store all pertinent information. The System : The main purpose of our e-commerce platform was to facilitate product browsing and purchasing for users, while also enabling administrators to manage inventory and track sales. The Components : The system consisted of three key components: the user interface, the administration interface, and the database. The Interactions : The user interface enabled customers to explore products and place orders. These orders were then stored in the database and reflected in the administration interface for tracking and sales management. Technical Decisions : Regarding technical choices, we opted for React for both the user and administration interfaces because of its scalability, robustness, and virtual DOM, which enhanced the application's performance. We selected MongoDB as our database for its adaptability in handling various data types, which suited our diverse product inventory well. Rationale : Our choices were influenced by the need to efficiently accommodate a large number of users while managing a wide array of products and ensuring a seamless user experience.
