About the role

What will you do at Polymarket?

About Polymarket

Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market platform. We enable individuals to express views on real-world events by trading on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. Built as a peer-to-peer marketplace with no centralized "house," Polymarket aggregates diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities that reflect collective expectations about the future.

We're growing fast — both in terms of volume ($21B traded in 2025) and adoption as an alternative news source. Our ambition is to become a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media and we need your help adding fuel to the fire.

About the Role

Polymarket's web team ships to production many times a day across our Next.js apps. This role owns the systems that make that velocity safe: the AI tooling, observability, alerting, and performance discipline that tell us — with evidence, automatically — that the site is fast and correct after every ship.

This is a hands-on architect role with a clear foundation to build on. The center of gravity is agentic tooling — building the AI-driven review, QA, verification, and release machinery the web team leans on daily. The rest is the observability, alerting, and performance foundation that machinery stands on.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain agentic workflows that give every web engineer leverage: PR review agents, automated verification of fixes against production data, perf-regression detection and bisection, release gates
  • Define the performance budget for Polymarket web and enforce it automatically — in CI, at the edge, and in RUM
  • Instrument what matters: real-user metrics tied to the surfaces where users trade, not vanity lab scores
  • Own the alert lifecycle end to end — from detector to dashboard to the engineer who acts on it; kill flaky signals and make green mean shippable
  • Set the architecture bar for how the web team measures, ships, and verifies — and automate it so the bar holds at high velocity
  • Own Core Web Vitals, real-user monitoring, bundle and rendering budgets, and caching and streaming strategy for Polymarket web
  • Maintain one coherent, trustworthy picture of production web health across errors, traces, and RUM
  • Own regression detection that fires when something real breaks — performance or correctness — and stays quiet otherwise
  • Build and maintain the views the team and leadership actually use: release health, vitals, error budgets, funnel-critical surfaces
  • Lead a small team from day one — set the direction, raise the bar, and multiply their output while staying hands-on

What We're Looking For

  • Expert in web performance — you can take a slow page and make it fast, and prove the win with real-user data, not lab runs
  • Experience shipping for real users at scale — you've owned a production web app with a large, active user base where a regression hit thousands of users within minutes and monitoring was how you knew
  • Deep Next.js experience: App Router, React Server Components, streaming/PPR, caching layers, hydration cost
  • Experience building AI/agentic developer tooling — or serious automation — that a team relied on daily, with opinions about where agents genuinely help vs. where they add noise
  • Experience owning observability and alerting for a high-traffic production product: instrumentation, dashboards, on-call signal quality
  • Strong systems thinking across the full path: CDN/edge caching, browser internals, measurement bias, backend latency's effect on the frontend
  • Bias for ownership — this domain has no backstop
  • Able to lead a small team while staying hands-on
  • (Plus) Real-money or trading product experience — where latency and correctness both cost money
  • (Plus) Cloudflare at depth: Workers, cache rules, edge telemetry
  • (Plus) Experience running LLM-based code review or test generation at scale
