OVERVIEW

Full-time/Permanent Employee

Location: Hybrid with SCIF Access in Langley AFB, VA; Offutt AFB/Omaha, NE (will consider JBSA-Lackland and Rome, NY for exceptional candidates) Candidates must reside within two hours of one of these locations.

As a Cloud Migration Engineer II, you will play a critical role in coordinating and executing data and cloud migration efforts across multiple mission partners and solution implementation projects. You will work closely with the Solution Architect, DAF Cw engineering, and leadership to define the target data model, communicate timelines and risks, and guide technical strategies for successful transitions.

Leveraging your experience with technical standards and moderate complexity problem-solving, you will design, manage, and execute migration plans involving legacy systems and cloud environments. This includes detailed assessments of IT environments, tooling for platform-specific migrations, and agile wave-based execution to minimize risk and disruption. You will also serve as a technical lead in the continuous improvement of Migration-as-a-Service (MaaS) processes and documentation.

Your ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with stakeholders will be key to success. You will support program-wide productivity and quality initiatives while ensuring compliance with contractual and operational goals.

The proposed salary range for this position is $76,000-$103,000. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications. RESPONSIBILTIES

Coordinate data and cloud migration activities across all solution and mission partner projects to ensure a unified, efficient approach

Act as a liaison between mission partners, DAF Cw engineering, and leadership to clearly communicate timelines, risks, and technical considerations

Serve as a technical lead for discovery, analysis, planning, and execution of cloud migration efforts into the DAFCw environment

Conduct detailed IT environment assessments including performance baselines, dependency analysis, and risk profiling

Define and execute comprehensive migration plans for both legacy and modern systems, including ETL and validation processes

Design, operate, and optimize migration tools tailored to mission partner needs and platform requirements

Utilize platform-specific migration tooling such as DevSecOps platforms, Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and Identity Management systems

Execute migrations in agile “waves” to minimize impact and reduce operational risk

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of MaaS processes, tooling, and documentation

Design quality assurance frameworks and perform data validation to ensure data integrity post-migration

Monitor and report progress of migration efforts, identifying and mitigating risks as needed

Coordinate activities of ETL engineers and other technical staff involved in the migration

Collaborate with the Architecture and PMO teams to document a standardized approach to data and cloud migration

Maintain a detailed progress tracker for all migration phases and ensure alignment with program schedules and resources

Provide technical support to operational strategies that enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency across all program functions

Ensure all contractual deliverables are met or exceeded to the customer's satisfaction

Build and maintain productive and positive professional relationships with clients within your program

Execute all contract requirements as assigned in accordance with the contract-specific LCAT and requirements

Perform other related duties as assigned

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Clearance: Active TS/SCI

Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Similar Discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated expertise in the following: AWS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, data migration, or software refactoring.

Proven ability to manage complex IT transitions, including legacy system modernization and mission-critical workload migrations.

Strong knowledge of the 7 R’s of migration and experience applying them in real-world environments.

Excellent communication skills with a track record of cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

CompTIA Security+ or other DoD 8570-compliant certification

Must be available to support a 24/7 on-call schedule, including nights and weekends. Specific on-call expectations will be defined upon team assignment.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with migration tools such as AWS Application Migration Service, Azure Migrate, DataSync, Jira/Confluence Migration Assistant, or TransitionManager.

Experience with agile delivery models and PI planning.

Familiarity with USAF enterprise architectures, DevSecOps practices, and DoD cloud policies.

Certifications in one or more cloud platforms, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Certified Kubernetes Administrator or similiar.
