Corporate Counsel

We are looking for a Corporate Counsel with 3-6 years of experience to serve as AfterQuery's first dedicated in-house attorney, owning commercial contracting as the company scales rapidly. You'll work cross-functionally with leadership - including directly with our founders - to support hundreds of incoming contractor and vendor agreements at YC's fastest unicorn ($3.2B valuation). What will you be doing?

Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and redlining a high volume of commercial contracts (MSAs, SOWs, data licensing agreements, DPAs) Working cross-functionally with hiring managers, the Head of People, and the founding team on contract-related matters Maintaining and improving contract templates and playbooks to accelerate deal cycles Partnering with outside counsel on specialized or high-stakes legal matters Wearing multiple hats in a scrappy startup environment, with potential to flex into employment law matters as needed Key Requirements 3-6 years of legal experience with a strong focus on commercial contracts In-house experience at an early-stage startup (Series A to Series D); not looking for pure Big Law profiles Tech-savvy and comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Claude) in day-to-day work Ambitious, scrappy mindset with openness to picking up adjacent areas (e.g., employment law) as the company grows
