Understanding the motivations of stakeholders is essential. The factors driving cash payments may include immediate payment, evasion of service fees, tax avoidance, or even illegal activities. To tackle this issue, an approach with multiple strategies could prove beneficial. One step we can take is to educate drivers. We can integrate training sessions into our onboarding and ongoing education programs that highlight the benefits of cashless transactions, such as increased safety and easier dispute resolution. Additionally, we could implement an investigative tool within the Uber app that allows customers to report such incidents. This feature would not only discourage drivers from engaging in these practices but also enhance trust among our users. For a more proactive strategy, we could create randomized algorithms to identify irregularities in driver cash transactions. A sudden rise in cash trips could initiate a verification process to ensure compliance. Finally, I suggest enhancing our driver payout system to improve transparency, expedite the process, or offer small rewards for cashless transactions, thereby reducing the incentive for drivers to accept cash. The effectiveness of these solutions could be assessed by tracking the shift from cash to cashless transactions, a reduction in customer complaints regarding drivers requesting cash, and overall satisfaction levels among customers and drivers using the Uber app.
