File storage is a conventional method for data storage that organizes information in a hierarchical structure of files and folders. It is user-friendly and works well for shared access within a local network; however, it can face challenges when handling large data sets or extensive geographical distributions. In contrast, object storage employs a flat architecture where data is divided into separate units called objects. Each object is given a unique identifier for easy retrieval, making object storage highly scalable and particularly suitable for unstructured data. It overcomes the limitations of file storage and is better suited for cloud-based environments. Blob storage, or Binary Large Object storage, is a variant of object storage specifically intended for managing large, unstructured data such as multimedia files or binaries. It is particularly effective for delivering data directly to a web browser, which includes tasks like streaming videos, storing large images, or providing log files.
