Creating an effective monitoring system entails selecting the appropriate tools and libraries for data gathering, storage, analysis, and visualization. For data gathering, we might consider using agents like Zabbix or Nagios. These tools deliver essential information on key metrics and can proactively report any irregularities. All collected data can be directed to ElasticSearch for storage and querying purposes. Kibana can serve as a data visualization tool, providing graphical representations of server health and offering a user-friendly interface for configuring customized alerts. To ensure scalability, Kibana, ElasticSearch, and Nagios/Zabbix can be deployed as microservices utilizing Docker, with Kubernetes managing them for effective scaling, rollbacks, and migrations. Lastly, to enhance accessibility and context comprehension, the system could integrate log collection and centralization through Filebeat and Logstash, allowing operators to quickly access detailed logs in the event of an alert to determine exactly what transpired. A sufficiently large storage and search solution like ElasticSearch would be essential to manage all logs from the servers.
