When designing such a system, two key components must be addressed: Image Classification and Geolocation Analysis. For the image classification aspect to ascertain whether an image depicts a bald eagle, I recommend employing a deep learning approach using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). CNNs have been shown to be highly effective for image recognition tasks. I would train the model with a substantial, labeled dataset consisting of images of bald eagles as well as objects that are not bald eagles. To ascertain if an image was taken within a national park, my first step would be to examine the EXIF data associated with the image. This data typically includes details about the location where the photo was taken. If this information is accessible, we could leverage Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to compare the image's coordinates against those of recognized national parks. If the EXIF data is unavailable, an additional classification model may be necessary to identify images based on features characteristic of national parks. However, this strategy presents certain challenges. Gathering and annotating data for model training, dealing with images that have low resolution or difficult lighting conditions, and accounting for the variations in national park appearances across different seasons and times of day are some of the hurdles we may face. The effectiveness of this system could be assessed using standard metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. Additionally, Cross Validation could be implemented to mitigate the risk of model overfitting.
