Handymen are often called to handle repairs or maintenance across various categories, such as plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry. However, remembering details about different types of equipment can sometimes be difficult. Therefore, I suggest developing a mobile app using augmented reality (AR) called 'HandyHelper'. HandyHelper will feature a database of various household items and will provide instant information when viewed through the AR interface. For instance, if a handyman needs to repair a specific model of washing machine, they can direct the app at it, and the app will deliver step-by-step repair instructions, identify common problems, list necessary tools, and even offer guided assistance throughout the repair process with AR overlay instructions. HandyHelper has the potential to enhance the efficiency of handymen by minimizing the time spent recalling or searching for information, and it may also enable less experienced handymen to tackle more complex tasks.
