In my previous position as a product manager at XYZ tech, one of our product launches fell short of our expectations. We had thoroughly researched customer needs and analyzed market competition. Nevertheless, after the launch, the product failed to gain the anticipated traction. Upon reviewing where we might have erred, it became clear that although we aimed for a large user base, this group was neither familiar with nor prepared to adopt our type of technology. This miscalculation was a setback for both our team and me. Nonetheless, I viewed this experience as a valuable lesson. I recognized the significance of not only identifying our target market but also ensuring that this market was ready for the technology we offered. Consequently, I started to incorporate market readiness as a vital consideration during our product development and evaluation processes. To facilitate this, we initiated surveys and test groups early in the development cycle to better assess market readiness. This strategy ultimately allowed us to pivot our product towards a more prepared market, leading to commercial success.
