Since its launch, Google Maps has evolved significantly from a basic mapping service into a thorough location and navigation resource. Over the next decade, the aim should be to enhance automation and personalization in the Maps experience. In the initial two years, the focus should be on improving real-time updates and personalization. With the growing prevalence of IoT devices, Google Maps can offer real-time traffic and weather information, as well as more tailored location recommendations through the integration of data from these devices. During years 3 to 5, efforts should concentrate on integrating Google Maps with other services, such as ride-sharing, dining, and e-commerce, by establishing partnerships and APIs that encourage smooth integration. In years 6 to 8, the emphasis should shift towards utilizing advanced technologies like AR and VR to improve navigational support. By the end of this decade, our objective should be to seamlessly integrate Google Maps with self-driving cars, as they are expected to become increasingly common. We need to position Google Maps not only as a navigation tool for individuals but also as an essential component for autonomous vehicles.
