In a previous role, our team was made up of individuals with diverse perspectives, and one team member, whom I'll refer to as John, was particularly dominant and opinionated. He often interrupted others during meetings, which began to negatively impact team morale. As the team leader, it was my duty to foster an environment where every member could express their ideas. I chose to tackle the issue directly. I held a private conversation with John, where I acknowledged his valuable input while also addressing his disruptive behavior in a respectful and neutral way. I emphasized that while his enthusiasm was commendable, it was equally crucial for him to allow space for others to share their thoughts. After our conversation, John moderated his responses somewhat, but it was still evident that the issue hadn't been fully resolved. Consequently, our team agreed to establish a policy that would allow each person uninterrupted time to express their ideas during meetings. This change led to a more respectful and supportive atmosphere. As a result, the team's productivity improved, and the quality of our discussions significantly enhanced.
