In my previous position at XYZ Data, I had the chance to engage in various NLP projects. A key project involved creating a sentiment analysis tool to interpret customer feedback. For this, I primarily utilized Python along with libraries like NLTK and SpaCy for data preprocessing, and TensorFlow to construct the sentiment analysis model. One of the significant challenges was addressing ambiguity and sarcasm in language, which often led to misinterpretations by the baseline models. To overcome this, I integrated additional contextual information and analyzed user comment histories for improved comprehension. This experience deepened my understanding of the complexities of human language and allowed me to enhance my skills in developing effective NLP models.

While at ABC Tech, I collaborated closely with NLP to create a chatbot for an e-commerce platform. We utilized Microsoft’s LUIS for recognizing intents and extracting entities, alongside a proprietary algorithm for context-aware interactions. A major challenge we faced was training the model to comprehend the diverse ways users express their inquiries. We had to consistently enhance and broaden our training data to address this diversity. In the end, our chatbot successfully managed over 10,000 conversations daily, alleviating the workload for our customer service representatives and enhancing the customer experience. This project provided me with insights into the intricacies of real-world NLP applications and highlighted the significance of iterative improvements in machine learning systems.
