TEGNA is looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join our development team. A

successful candidate will collaborate closely with developers and product teams

to design, implement, and maintain automated test solutions that ensure

high-quality software delivery. This role will help advance our quality strategy

by increasing automated test coverage, improving CI/CD reliability, and reducing

reliance on manual testing.

This position will play a key role in defining automation standards, frameworks,

and best practices across teams while continuously improving our overall quality

processes.

Responsibilities

• * Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for functional,
• regression, integration, and performance testing.
• * Create and execute automated test suites for web, mobile, and OTT
• applications.
• * Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable,
• repeatable test execution.
• * Analyze test failures, identify root causes, and partner with developers to
• resolve defects efficiently.
• * Review requirements and technical designs to provide early feedback on
• testability and automation feasibility.
• * Maintain and enhance existing test automation, ensuring scalability and
• maintainability.
• * Establish automation best practices, standards, and documentation.
• * Collaborate with manual QA, developers, DevOps, and product teams to improve
• overall test coverage and release confidence.
• * Continuously evaluate and adopt new automation tools and technologies.

Requirements

• * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• * 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining test automation
• solutions.
• * Strong experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium,
• Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or similar).
• * Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used for automation
• (e.g., Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python).
• * Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub
• Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar).
• * Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and test strategies.
• * Strong debugging skills with the ability to identify root causes of complex
• test and environment issues.
• * Experience with automated API testing.
• * Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• * Passion for quality engineering and continuous improvement.
