About the role
What will you do at Standout?
Founding AI Engineer – Standout Build the agents that are already running our business. Two weeks after launch we hit $400k run rate, crossed 1M+ views on X, and 4x'd our intro volume — driven by AI agents that vet candidates, assess companies, and make the calls on who gets introduced to whom. There's no legacy codebase here, no recruiter ops team to appease: the agents are the product, and you'll be one of the people building them from the ground up.
What you'll do: Design and ship the autonomous agents that represent candidates and companies — from technical assessment to fit-matching to introduction logic Build and iterate on our CLI-based technical evaluation tool, replacing resumes with something that actually measures capability Own agentic workflows end-to-end using LangGraph and Anthropic's models, moving from prototype to production fast Work across the stack (Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Prisma, OpenSearch) to get agent output into the hands of founders and candidates Instrument and improve match quality, using real hiring outcomes to tighten the loop Ship without a spec — you'll own entire surfaces of the product with founders, not middle managers What we're looking for: 2+ years building production software, ideally with real ownership of a product surface Hands-on experience building with LLMs — agents, RAG, structured generation, or eval pipelines, not just API calls Comfortable working fast with AI-assisted tools (Cursor, Claude Code, v0) and shipping without detailed specs Strong systems thinking — you can reason about matching, ranking, and evaluation logic, not just UI Bonus: experience with LangGraph, agent orchestration frameworks, or building marketplace/two-sided matching products Bonus: you've worked at or founded an early-stage startup and know what "founding" actually means day to day
