Founding Engineer

Location: Central London (in person) We are hiring a Founding Engineer to help build the foundations of reliable unstructured data processing, using the latest AI techniques. We are an ex-Palantir and ex-Bain founding team, looking for ambitious, smart, nice people to join us. YC, General Advance, Network VC, and angels from Palantir, OpenAI, McKinsey, and Capital Group are backing us.

Parsewise We started the company based on the pains we saw while working with enterprise customers, and today we are already in production and expanding across insurance and financial services. Parsewise is a YC-backed startup, building the most reliable and scalable workflows for unstructured data. Beyond the basics of document ingestion and understanding that out-of-the-box LLMs can solve, we enable business users to leverage the level of AI support that no chatbot can provide.

This includes dealing with some of the most challenging aspects of LLMs that academia and industry alike are tackling: Hallucinations Explainability Scalability While the opportunities are boundless, we have started in the financial services vertical. Our customers use Parsewise to better evaluate investment opportunities, highlight risks more quickly, and skip past the annoying part of their job: Checking and cross-referencing mountains of PDFs and Excel files.

The Role

As a Founding Engineer at Parsewise, you will play a key role in designing, building, and testing robust, scalable systems that power our platform. You’ll write high-quality, easy-to-maintain code and collaborate across the product lifecycle, helping to push the boundaries of what organized agentic AI can achieve. Technology is changing rapidly, so we value quick learning very highly.

You will be working with the following languages and platforms: Python, TypeScript, Terraform, AWS, Vercel, and PostgreSQL. What We Value Empathy & Collaboration: You are an effective communicator, sharp, and a team player. Problem-Solving: You approach challenges with a first-principles mindset and prioritize deep understanding before implementation.

A lot of what we build does not have an industry standard to follow. Ownership: You are self-motivated and take responsibility for delivering high-quality work without needing oversight. We are a small and growing team, and you will be expected to take ownership.

Non-conventional thinking/ risk-taking: You are eager to take calculated, smart risks. What We Require Proven software development experience with strong programming skills in languages like Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript Proven experience in rapidly shipping high-quality software in a dynamic environment.

Experience building backend systems, APIs, or full-stack applications Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS) Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design A passion for learning and a willingness to dive deep into technical challenges In-office by default, with option for occasional remote work What We Offer
