As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Community and Consumer
Banking, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build,
and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and
scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for
conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within
various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
* Applies depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software
development lifecycle, as well as partner continuously with your many
stakeholders daily to stay focused on common goals
* Work in a collaborative, trusting, thought-provoking environment—one that
encourages diversity of thought and creative solutions that are in the best
interests of our customers globally.
* Develops using Test Driven Development and is familiar with working in a
Continual Integration environment on a shared code base.
* Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical
troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional
approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
* Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code
written by others
* Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring
issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and
systems
* Applies technical experience will allow you to take the lead on feature
design and development, as well as allowing you to identify new features and
help form the strategy and direction of the program.
* Provides technical leadership and mentoring while being open and inclusive,
encouraging the whole team to participate in design and development
* Prototype and deliver AI-enabled/agentic workflows (e.g., tool-using agents,
orchestration patterns, evaluation and guardrails) and translate stakeholder
needs into technical designs
* Mentor engineers and partner with application teams to drive best practices
across reliability, performance, risk, cybersecurity, and legal/compliance
requirements
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+
years applied experience
* Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture
disciplines
* Extensive core Java (version 8 or higher) development experience with Spring
or similar framework
* Test Driven Development using Junit
* Expert understanding of data structures, algorithms & multi-threaded
programming
* Experience working on multi-threaded, high throughput mission critical
high-performance platforms
* Experience in designing and building reusable services
* Experience with data security and encryption in an enterprise setting
* Experience with Java Spring Boot, Hibernate, Kafka, Cassandra, , Kubernetes,
PowerMock, JMeter, Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, Jenkins, Sonar, Fortify, Black
Duck, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence
* Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted
software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration,
troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI
outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
* Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows,
including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs,
and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching
engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Experience with cloud native applications development (e.g. AWS, GCP,
private cloud, etc.)
* Ability to influence architecture and design across distributed systems
* Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
* Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals
