About the role
What will you do at Invoca?
ABOUT INVOCA
Invoca is an AI-powered revenue execution platform that brings together
marketing, commerce, and contact center teams to turn every customer interaction
into measurable, profitable growth. Join our dynamic, fast-growing team, where
innovation and collaboration are at the core of our culture.
ABOUT THE ENGINEERING TEAM
You’ll join a team where everyone, including you, is striving to constantly
improve their knowledge of software development tools, practices, and processes.
We are an incredibly supportive team. We swarm when problems arise and give
excellent feedback to help each other grow. Working on our close-knit,
multi-functional teams is a chance to share and grow your knowledge of different
domains from databases to front ends to telephony and everything in between.
We are passionate about many things: continuous improvement, working at a brisk
but sustainable pace, writing resilient code, maintaining production
reliability, paying down technical debt, hiring fantastic teammates; and we love
to share these passions with each other.
OVERVIEW
AI is rapidly reshaping how software products create value for customers. At
Invoca, we are building the shared AI platform that enables every product and
engineering team to deliver intelligent, differentiated customer experiences
faster and more reliably.
This is a Staff-level technical leadership role focused on creating durable
competitive advantage through platform leverage—not maintaining infrastructure,
and not building isolated technical systems.
Your mission is to make AI a first-class capability across the company by
building the shared services, abstractions, and standards that allow product
teams to ship high-quality AI features without becoming AI infrastructure
experts.
Success in this role is measured by business impact: how quickly and effectively
product teams deliver AI-powered capabilities, how widely the platform is
adopted, and how meaningfully it improves customer outcomes.
You will operate at the intersection of engineering, product, data, and
leadership, shaping how Invoca builds and scales AI-powered software.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Build AI as a Core Product Capability
* Define and evolve the technical vision for Invoca’s shared AI platform across
all product teams.
* Build reusable AI capabilities (e.g., LLM integrations, retrieval systems,
evaluation frameworks, model routing) that accelerate product development.
* Ensure product teams can safely and easily incorporate AI into
customer-facing features without deep AI infrastructure expertise.
* Continuously identify where shared platform investments can unlock new
product capabilities or eliminate duplicated engineering effort.
Accelerate Delivery of AI-Powered Products
* Reduce friction for teams building, deploying, and iterating on AI-powered
features.
* Improve consistency, reliability, and cost efficiency of AI usage across the
organization.
* Enable rapid experimentation with AI features while maintaining appropriate
safety, governance, and observability.
* Drive adoption of platform capabilities through simplicity, performance, and
clear value to product teams.
Establish Standards for Production AI Systems
* Define best practices for building, evaluating, and operating production AI
systems at scale.
* Establish frameworks for prompt management, evaluation, observability, and
model performance tracking.
* Partner with Security, Legal, and Data teams to ensure responsible and
compliant AI usage.
* Improve reliability and quality of AI systems through standardized tooling
and shared infrastructure.
Lead Through Technical Influence
* Drive architectural direction across multiple engineering and product teams.
* Influence technical and product decisions through clarity, judgment, and
strong technical reasoning.
* Raise the engineering bar by simplifying systems and eliminating unnecessary
complexity.
* Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior engineering and product
leadership.
Connect Platform Investment to Business Outcomes
* Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to prioritize platform work
based on customer and business impact.
* Evaluate platform investments based on adoption, developer productivity, and
measurable acceleration of product delivery.
* Ensure the AI platform directly contributes to differentiated customer
experiences and competitive positioning.
* Balance long-term platform health with short-term delivery needs.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for engineers who build leverage—not just systems.
You likely have:
* Deep experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems or
platform infrastructure.
* Strong practical experience with modern AI systems, including LLMs,
retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation, and production AI architectures.
* A track record of building platforms or systems that are widely adopted
because they meaningfully improve developer or product team productivity.
* Strong architectural judgment with a bias toward simplicity, usability, and
adoption over theoretical completeness.
* Experience working closely with product teams to ship customer-facing
capabilities, not just internal tooling.
* Strong ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes and
product strategy.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across teams and
levels of seniority.
* High ownership mindset, curiosity, and urgency in fast-moving technical
environments.
HOW SUCCESS WILL BE MEASURED
Within 12–18 months, success in this role will look like:
* Significant adoption of shared AI platform capabilities across multiple
product teams.
* Measurable reduction in time required to ship AI-powered features.
* Increased consistency, reliability, and cost efficiency of AI systems in
production.
* Product teams independently and confidently building AI-powered customer
experiences using platform primitives.
* Clear contribution of the AI platform to differentiated product capabilities
and customer value.
* Strong technical influence on engineering and product direction across the
organization.
* Recognition as a trusted technical leader shaping how Invoca builds
AI-powered products.
