IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is hiring a Platform Systems

Engineer to join and support our team in Springfield, VA.

As a Platform Systems Engineer will build, maintain, and optimize container

platforms that supports modern, scalable, and resilient applications across the

organization. In this role, you translate operational and application

requirements into robust container platform architectures, ensuring reliability,

security, and efficient automation throughout the ecosystem. This position

bridges the gap between core infrastructure and application delivery, requiring

a deep understanding of Linux systems, cloud-native networking, and DevSecOps

principles to maintain high-performance, resilient, and secure hybrid-cloud

platforms.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Key responsibilities include working with development and infrastructure

teams to design and implement Kubernetes clusters, manage core components,

and develop automation for deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management.

* Create and maintain CI/CD integrations, engineer containerized solutions, and

optimize cluster performance and resource utilization.

* May also support solution design efforts such as architecture documentation,

configuration prototypes, and infrastructure‑as‑code patterns. Additionally,

you will conduct testing, troubleshoot platform issues, and ensure that

Kubernetes environments operate securely, consistently, and in alignment with

organizational standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* 5+ years of hands-on experience responsible for the end-to-end engineering,

implementation, and optimization of enterprise-grade container orchestration

environments.

* 5+ years of hands-on experience deploying, running, troubleshooting, and

managing containerized workloads with platforms such as Kubernetes,

OpenShift, or Managed Cloud K8s (NKP/EKS/AKS/GKE).

* Demonstrate mastery in cluster lifecycle management, automated deployment via

Isac (Terraform/Helm/Ansible) and the engineering of robust observability and

security frameworks.

* Strong understanding of Linux systems, cloud-native networking, and DevOps

principles to maintain high-performance, resilient, and secure hybrid-cloud

platforms.

* Must meet DoD 8140/CSWF for 661-Intermediate or be willing to obtain the

appropriate credential within 6 months.

* 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant

experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or

Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9

years relevant experience.

* TS/SCI clearance required with ability to obtain CI Poly.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

* Cloud-native formal training or vendor certifications (e.g., AWS Certified

Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Associate,

Google Professional Cloud Architect)

* Kubernetes formal training or vendor certifications (e.g., Certified

Kubernetes Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Developer)

* Understanding and knowledge of system development lifecycles (e.g.,

waterfall, spiral, agile, DevSecOps).

* Experience supporting infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment.

* Expertise in engineering and implementing enterprise-level platforms focusing

on Cluster lifecycle, network, service mesh, and observability.
