What will you do at GovCIO?

GovCIO is currently seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the transition of Digital Collection Services (DCS) from on-premises infrastructure to AWS GovCloud. The engineer will provide hands-on administration, configuration, troubleshooting, security, and operational support for the AWS infrastructure supporting large-scale evidentiary data and DCS applications.

The position requires strong AWS infrastructure experience, particularly with EC2, FSx ONTAP, IAM, networking, and CloudWatch, as well as the ability to operate in a hybrid AWS, Azure, and VA on-premises environment.

This position is fully remote located in the continental United States.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and troubleshoot AWS GovCloud infrastructure supporting DCS.
  • Manage Amazon EC2, including Windows-based cloud servers.
  • Configure and administer Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP storage environments.
  • Manage Amazon S3 storage and associated cloud infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain AWS IAM roles, policies, and access controls.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VPCs, security groups, firewall rules, ports, routing, and network connectivity.
  • Implement and maintain CloudWatch monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Support secure connectivity and data flows between AWS, Azure, and VA on-premises environments.
  • Use AWS CLI and automation tools to support infrastructure administration and operational activities.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, storage, network, connectivity, availability, and performance issues.
  • Support cloud security and compliance requirements within the AWS GovCloud environment.
  • Monitor infrastructure capacity, performance, availability, and operational health.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and troubleshooting runbooks.
  • Coordinate with VA platform teams, AWS engineering teams, application teams, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Support the transition from legacy on-premises infrastructure to sustainable cloud operations.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred and 12+ years of experience. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering or systems engineering.
  • 3+ years of hands-on AWS administration experience.
  • Experience working in AWS GovCloud or comparable regulated cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience administering Amazon EC2, including Windows Server environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP.
  • Experience managing Amazon S3 storage.
  • Experience with AWS IAM, including roles, policies, permissions, and access controls.
  • Experience with AWS VPCs, security groups, firewall rules, ports, routing, and network connectivity.
  • Experience with Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Experience using AWS CLI for administration and automation.
  • Experience supporting hybrid or multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, access management, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, and performance issues.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust/Suitability clearance.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience
  • AWS certification such as Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator.
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP or federal government cloud environments.
  • Experience with NetApp ONTAP and SnapMirror.
  • Experience with Azure administration.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with DevOps or CI/CD practices.
  • Experience supporting large-scale storage environments.
  • Posted Salary Range
  • USD $165,000.00 - USD $175,000.00 /Yr.
