MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or
equivalent practical experience.
* 10 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and
troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
* Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites,
multiple products, etc.).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* 5 years of experience in a networking environment, serving in an engineering
or operations capacity.
* Experience in planning and designing networks across multiple sites and for
various products.
* Experience in driving projects related to network scaling, network build and
optimization, routing protocol design and optimization, optical networking,
incident management, and data analysis.
ABOUT THE JOB:

users around the world. The Network Engineering team is responsible for
operating that network reliably and at scale. As a member of the team, you have
a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep our systems running
smoothly. You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by
monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting
hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues. Google's
complex network generates a constant stream of challenges which require you to
continually be innovative with an evolving set of technologies. Keeping the
network reliable ensures that our users stay connected with our suite of
applications, products and services.
Global Network Operations is the team responsible for the reliability,
availability, and optimization of the Google Global Network Underlay. Team
members solve problems that drive the performance Google needs under our
explosive growth. We operate one of the largest planetary networks to ever
exist, which presents reliability challenges that must evolve as our customer
base evolves.
This role will focus on network health and performance, as well as the expansion
and optimization of telemetry signal processing and automated workflow design.
You will work to increase productivity in our incident management and repair
processes, identify AI and automation opportunities to increase productivity in
network health optimization, and design robust solutions to network scaling
challenges. You will work in a heavily matrixed environment across operations,
engineering, dev and SRE to solve critical network scaling issues and drive
reliability SLO to and above customer requirements across the global footprint.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills,
experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $176000 - $257000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Define network health standards and policies, measures, and optimization
opportunities to drive high reliability.
* Collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams to represent and advocate
operational network needs as well as successfully implement plans.
* Coordinate between various cross-functional teams, set clear expectations
about responsibilities, communicate with stakeholders, and measure success.
* Identify problems and drive cross-functional solutions at scale across our
wider operations organization, increasing operational efficiency. Identify
design optimization opportunities and specify requirements into development
organizations for improved network performance and resiliency.
* Lead network health results delivery and reviews. Drive efficient process
improvement on how Google Networking manages network risk. Drive
cross-functional collaboration on risk mitigation.
