What will you do at Google?
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
* 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming
languages (e.g., C, C++ or Go).
* 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products,
and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
* 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure,
distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies,
storage, or hardware architecture.
* Experience in systems programming, kernel-level development, and
virtualization architectures.
* Experience in core infrastructure (e.g., Virtual Machines, Operating Systems,
Infrastructure as a Service, Networking, Storage, Security, Hypervisor).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience with virtualization.
* Experience in algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software
design, or in Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, performance and application
issues.
* Experience in production infrastructure, and working in both engineering and
operational environments: this team has one foot in each, and the successful
individual will be able to bridge that divide.
* Knowledge of CI/CD best practices.
* Ability to take on challenges that bridge complex stakeholder contexts and
take concerted, long-term goal and investment.
* Excellent communication skills.

- lead the evolution of Rust-based VMMs and IOMMU
- subsystems to deliver industry-leading isolation, performance, and reliability.

- Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills,
- experience, and relevant education or training.
- US: $174000 - $252000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- * Lead the development of the virtualization subsystem (VMM, CHV) at Google
- scale.
- * Lead the development of specialized tooling to support engineering practices
- within the virtualization and systems programming space.
- * Design and implement automation frameworks for build, CI/CD, and
- qualification testing specifically tailored for Rust-based VMMs and guest
- isolation layers.
- * Support the delivery of the virtualization layer across millions of
- production hosts, ensuring compatibility across various product lines and
- hardware configurations.
- * Build out observability framework to provide transparency into VM health and
- I/O performance, supporting a more data-driven and efficient release process.
