Client Implementation Engineer (Back-End) I

This is a client-facing technical implementation role, not a software developer or coding position.

FINBOA is looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with clients, and understanding how systems and data work together. If you have experience supporting banking technology, SaaS platforms, core banking systems, integrations, technical implementations, or complex client configurations, this may be a great fit.

We are especially interested in candidates with experience working for or supporting banks and credit unions, including individuals familiar with deposit operations, electronic banking, payments, or Regulation E dispute processes.

You do not need to be a software developer. This position sits at the intersection of client implementation, financial technology, systems integration, data, and technical problem-solving.

About FINBOA

At FINBOA, we help financial institutions simplify complex operational and compliance processes through SaaS technology. Our solutions support banks and credit unions across the country in modernizing workflows, improving efficiency, and delivering better experiences for their employees and account holders.

Our Client Experience team works directly with financial institutions to successfully implement and support FINBOA solutions.

What You'll Do

  • As a Client Implementation Engineer (Back-End) I, you will serve as a technical member of FINBOA's client implementation team.
  • You'll work alongside Project Managers, front-end implementation resources, clients, technology partners, and FINBOA's internal Product and Engineering teams to configure and troubleshoot the technical components required to bring new clients live.
  • This role is ideal for someone who can comfortably move between a client conversation and hands-on technical investigation. One moment you may be discussing requirements with a bank's operations or IT team, and the next you may be reviewing data, troubleshooting an integration, validating a batch process, or using SQL to investigate an issue.
  • This position does not develop FINBOA's application software. Instead, you'll use technical knowledge to configure, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and successfully implement our platform for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Implementation & Technical Consulting
  • Work directly with banks and credit unions throughout implementation to understand technical requirements, explain integration needs, troubleshoot issues, and guide clients toward a successful launch.
  • System & Integration Configuration
  • Configure and support the back-end components of client implementations, including integrations, data imports and exports, batch processes, file exchanges, and other client-specific technical requirements.
  • Technical Troubleshooting
  • Investigate implementation issues by reviewing system behavior, data, logs, configurations, and integration responses. Determine whether issues are related to configuration, client environments, integrations, or FINBOA software and coordinate resolution with the appropriate teams.
  • SQL & Data Analysis
  • Use SQL to review and validate data, investigate issues, support configuration activities, and confirm expected system behavior. SQL is an important tool in this role, but this is not a database developer position.
  • Testing & Validation
  • Support client testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validate integrations and configurations, identify unexpected behavior, and help ensure clients are ready for production.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Project Management, Client Experience, Product, Engineering, and external technology providers to resolve implementation challenges and keep projects moving forward.
  • Client Communication
  • Translate technical concepts into clear, approachable language for client stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise. You'll regularly interact with client operations teams, IT teams, vendors, and other technology partners.
  • Issue Documentation & Escalation
  • Clearly document technical findings and, when software changes are required, provide FINBOA's Product and Engineering teams with the information necessary to investigate and resolve the issue.
  • Technical Documentation
  • Create and maintain implementation documentation, configuration guidance, troubleshooting resources, and internal knowledge articles.
  • Project & Task Management
  • Use tools such as Asana to manage assigned implementation activities, priorities, dependencies, and deadlines across multiple client projects.

What We're Looking For

  • We're looking for a technical problem-solver who is also comfortable working with clients.
  • You don't need to be a programmer. You do need to be curious about how systems work, comfortable investigating technical problems, and able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people.
  • Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in a client-facing role such as technical implementation, technical support, SaaS support, customer success, banking technology, or financial services operations.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical or system-related issues in a business environment.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and the ability to query data for investigation, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to understand integrations, data flows, system configurations, APIs, batch processes, or similar technical concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and client projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for a bank, credit union, fintech company, or financial technology provider.
  • Knowledge of banking operations, payments, electronic banking, or Regulation E dispute processes.
  • Experience implementing or supporting SaaS platforms.
  • Familiarity with banking core systems, digital banking platforms, payment processors, or other financial technology integrations.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure or cloud-based SaaS environments.
  • Familiarity with APIs, SFTP/file processing, data imports and exports, batch processing, or similar integrati
