Emergent builds autonomous coding agents that replace traditional software development by generating, testing, and deploying production applications directly from plain-language intent. The Role

We're hiring a Software Engineer Intern to build and ship real production systems that serve users globally. You'll work closely with experienced engineers across infrastructure, AI/ML, and product teams, taking ownership of meaningful projects from design to production while learning the principles of distributed systems, scalability, and reliability at scale.

What You'll Do

Build and maintain backend services using Python and/or Go.
Work closely with experienced engineers across infrastructure, AI/ML, and product teams.
Contribute to real production systems that serve users globally.
Learn and apply principles of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance.
Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing, and deployment workflows.
Take ownership of meaningful projects from design to production.

What We're Looking For

Fresh graduates.
Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals.
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, or Java.
Hands-on experience through internships, academic projects, hackathons, or open-source contributions.
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn quickly.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.

Nice to Have

Exposure to cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, or distributed systems.
Experience building backend applications, APIs, or developer tools.
Contributions to open-source projects or strong personal engineering projects.
Interest in AI, developer infrastructure, or large-scale systems.
