About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to help design and build the next generation of enterprise API platform capabilities.
In this role, you will
- develop scalable backend services, modern developer experiences, and automation solutions that enable teams across the organization to securely build, publish, manage, and consume APIs. You will contribute to architecture, engineering standards, platform innovation, and AI-powered capabilities while mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise API platform capabilities including API onboarding, governance, catalog management, developer portals, and lifecycle management.
- Build scalable and resilient backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, REST APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture.
- Develop modern, responsive web applications and developer-facing experiences using React and TypeScript.
- Apply industry-leading architecture principles including Domain-Driven Design (DDD), event-driven architecture, API-first design, and microservices patterns.
- Drive automation across API registration, testing, compliance validation, security controls, and deployment workflows through DevSecOps and CI/CD practices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production environments, improving reliability, performance, observability, scalability, and operational readiness.
- Integrate and enable AI-powered capabilities within platform services while supporting governance, testing, monitoring, and responsible AI practices.
- Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, contribute to technical strategy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Basic Qualifications
- - Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- - Five to six years of relevant experience
- Preferred Skills/Experience
- Strong experience developing enterprise applications with Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, and modern API technologies.
- Hands-on experience designing and supporting RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, and distributed microservices solutions.
- Experience with API management and governance, including OpenAPI/Swagger, API lifecycle management, documentation, and developer enablement.
- Proficiency building modern web applications using React, TypeScript, and responsive UI development practices.
- Strong understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), event-driven systems, integration patterns, and modern software architecture principles.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native development practices.
- Deep understanding of software and API security, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, secure coding practices, and authentication/authorization frameworks.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Aurora, or MongoDB, including data modeling and performance optimization.
- Experience implementing observability solutions including logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, alerting, and operational dashboards.
- Experience integrating AI/GenAI capabilities into enterprise applications and services.
- Knowledge of prompt engineering, AI governance, model lifecycle management, and responsible AI practices.
- Experience with asynchronous messaging and event streaming technologies.
- Location expectations
- This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
