About the role

What will you do at DLRdmv®?

About the role

As our Senior EKS Platform Engineer, you’ll own DLRdmv’s Kubernetes and container platform on AWS, with a primary focus on Amazon EKS. This is a hands-on role – you will be our Kubernetes/EKS subject-matter expert as we transition from traditional server-hosted solutions to containerized workloads. Reporting to the Director of IT, you’ll work closely with DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, and our Product Team.

DevOps owns build and release pipelines; you own the Kubernetes runtime platform – EKS cluster operations, Helm chart strategy, and the production readiness of containerized workloads.

What you'll do

Design, build, operate, and secure Amazon EKS environments across DLRdmv’s AWS ecosystem

Own the health, reliability, scalability, and operational readiness of the Kubernetes/container platform, including cluster sizing, node configuration, maintenance, and version upgrades

Own Helm chart strategy and design of current and future charts

Partner with DevOps to ensure CI/CD pipelines integrate cleanly with EKS, ECR, and Helm

Partner with Software Engineering to support application containerization, surface platform or deployment blockers, and define reliable runtime requirements

Enable developer self-service through reusable templates, paved-path workflows, and clear platform documentation

Partner with the Cloud Engineering on VPC, load balancing, IAM, and broader AWS service integration

Implement secure container practices: namespace design, workload identity, secrets management, and image/runtime standards

Design and maintain observability for EKS workloads using CloudWatch, EKS Observability add-ons, and other tooling as needed

Troubleshoot Kubernetes, EKS, Helm, networking, deployment, and runtime issues across environments

Create and maintain platform standards, runbooks, documentation, architecture diagrams, and automation for repeatable, reliable operations

Participate in production incident response, security and risk assessments, disaster recovery planning, and controls audits
