About Better Money
The next wave of stablecoin adoption is in payments. At Better Money, we’re building a stablecoin clearinghouse designed to make stablecoins move like money, not a trading asset.
We’re a small, ambitious NYC-based team backed by $10M from a16z Crypto and other exceptional partners, building the infrastructure we believe will power the next generation of global payments.
The Role
We’re looking for an Applied AI Engineer to bring modern AI capabilities into our products, engineering workflows, and financial infrastructure.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on turning LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, and AI-powered workflows into reliable production systems. You’ll identify high-impact opportunities for AI, prototype quickly, evaluate what works, and take successful ideas all the way into production.
What You’ll Do
- You’ll design and ship AI-powered products, agents, internal tools, and automated workflows across Better Money. You’ll build systems around modern LLMs, including tool calling, RAG, structured outputs, context management, and integrations with APIs and internal systems.
- You’ll also develop evaluation and monitoring frameworks to measure accuracy, reliability, latency, and cost, while designing appropriate guardrails for AI operating within financial infrastructure.
- Working closely with Product and Engineering, you’ll help determine where AI can meaningfully improve the product, automate complex processes, and give a small team significantly more leverage.
- Why Better Money
- You’ll have the opportunity to define how AI is used from the ground up inside an early-stage financial infrastructure company, with significant ownership and direct impact on both the product and how the company operates.
What We’re Looking For
- You’re a strong software engineer with experience shipping AI-powered products or production systems and hands-on knowledge of modern LLMs, agents, RAG, tool calling, and AI application architecture.
- You’re comfortable with Python, backend systems, APIs, and integrations, and understand that production AI requires strong evaluation, observability, reliability, and failure handling.
- You thrive in ambiguity, have strong product instincts, and are comfortable taking ideas from initial experimentation through production with significant ownership.
- Experience with fintech, payments, financial infrastructure, stablecoins, or blockchain is a strong plus, but not required.
