The Team

The Data Platform Team builds and maintains the core database technologies and

automation frameworks that power Capstone’s cutting-edge investment strategies.

teams across the firm to innovate at scale.

We are looking for a motivated technologist who thrives on solving complex

challenges and designing resilient, secure, and high-performance systems. You

will play a key role in shaping the firm’s next-generation data platform, with

opportunities to learn advanced technologies and contribute to mission-critical

systems. This role offers exceptional exposure to diverse areas of the hedge

fund, providing opportunities to influence critical systems and deliver

impactful solutions.

Our future colleague has these skills:

* 3+ years of professional experience, ideally within the financial sector

(equity, credit, derivatives trading environments)

* Engineering experience in enterprise database technologies, with strong

proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL)

* Development experience across multiple languages (SQL, PowerShell, Python)

for solving complex problems and building automation

* Automation-first mindset, including experience with Infrastructure as Code

(IaC) and scripting for repeatable deployments

* Database performance tuning and optimization: ability to analyze execution

plans, manage indexing strategies, and troubleshoot query bottlenecks

* Database design and modelling fundamentals: normalization, constraints,

transactions, and schema versioning

* Version control and CI/CD experience: Git workflows and automated deployments

using tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions

* Leverage open-source monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) for

performance and health checks

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and

documentation

Do you possess these Bonus Skills:

* Experience with Apache Iceberg on object storage (S3) and engines like

Spark/Trino.

* Exposure to multiple database platforms such as PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Amazon

Redshift, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.

* Exposure to distributed data platforms (Kafka)

* Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure (storage, networking, compute),

Linux administration (Red Hat) and Windows Server.

* Exposure to Kubernetes

The applicable base salary range for this role is $145,000-$175,000 USD. The

base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills,

training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage

requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition

to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based

incentives.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive
