About the role
What will you do at SAIC?
We're looking for a Principal Cloud Engineer to serve as a senior technical
anchor within STG Delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who
has "been there" architecturally and operationally — someone who can design for
scale, mentor engineers across the org, and drive complex cloud initiatives from
whiteboard to production. You'll work closely with senior engineers and
architects from programs across the org to standardize, shape, and scale our
cloud infrastructure/IT efforts across the organization. This opportunity is a
Hybrid role and candidates must go onsite 1-4 days a week. Candidates must sit
within the Saint Agustin FL area.
What You'll Do
- * Architect at scale — Design and evolve multi-cloud/hybrid infrastructure
- patterns that balance reliability, security, cost, and velocity.
- * Lead technical delivery — Partner with program leadership of assigned program
- to translate business priorities into concrete engineering roadmaps and
- execution plans.
- * Solve the hard problems — Act as the escalation point for the most complex
- infrastructure, performance, and reliability challenges across the org.
- * Drive standards and best practices — Establish and evangelize
- infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and security patterns that
- other teams adopt org-wide.
- * Mentor and multiply — Coach senior and mid-level engineers, conduct design
- reviews, and raise the technical bar across STG Delivery.
- * Own critical systems — Take end-to-end accountability for the availability,
- scalability, and cost-efficiency of core cloud platforms.
- * Influence strategy — Provide technical input into planning cycles,
- vendor/tooling decisions, and long-term platform investments.
- * Bridge silos — Collaborate cross-functionally with program engineering orgs
- within SAIC to ensure cohesive technical direction.
