What will you do at SAIC?
SAIC is seeking a highly experienced Cloud Engineer III to lead the design,
implementation, modernization, and sustainment of secure cloud, hybrid cloud,
and edge-to-cloud architectures supporting advanced Navy and DoW mission
capabilities. This role focuses on cloud architectures aligned to warfighter
needs, distributed maritime operations, multi-classification environments,
DevSecOps enablement, and secure platform modernization across AWS GovCloud,
Azure Government, on-premises, tactical, and on-platform compute environments.
The candidate will provide senior-level technical leadership to cross-functional
engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and government stakeholders to ensure
cloud solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, compliant, and aligned to
mission objectives.
In this role, you’ll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working
alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning
solutions in support of national defense.
THIS IS AN ONSITE ROLE IN SAN DIEGO, CA. WITH UP TO 20% OF TRAVEL INVOLVED
JOB DUTIES:
* Lead the design and implementation of secure cloud architectures that support
data-driven mission capabilities, warfighter needs, distributed maritime
operations, and Navy operational objectives.
* Develop hybrid edge-to-cloud architectures that integrate tactical edge
nodes, on-platform compute, on-premises infrastructure, and cloud
environments across operational and enterprise use cases.
* Architect solutions across multi-classification environments, while
accounting for cloud-based cross-domain considerations and multi-level
security requirements.
* Lead cloud deployments and modernization efforts across AWS GovCloud, Azure
Government, on-premises, tactical, and containerized environments by aligning
infrastructure, platform, networking, identity, and security requirements.
* Implement and optimize DevSecOps pipelines by integrating CI/CD,
Infrastructure as Code, automated security scanning, configuration
management, and secure deployment practices.
* Ensure cloud architectures comply with DoW cloud standards, Impact Levels 4,
5, and 6+, Zero Trust principles, RMF requirements, cybersecurity controls,
and mission assurance needs.
* Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, developers,
cybersecurity personnel, operators, program leadership, and government
stakeholders throughout architecture, implementation, testing, and
sustainment activities.
* Support architecture reviews, technical planning, risk identification, trade
studies, and stakeholder briefings by translating complex cloud design
considerations into clear recommendations and executable actions.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12)
years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
* Must have an Active Secret clearance to start
* Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI after start
* Must have Active CompTIA Security + certification
* Vast experience in cloud architecture, distributed systems, platform
engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps, or related technical roles.
* Experience designing, deploying, integrating, or sustaining cloud solutions
in AWS, Azure, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or similar cloud environments.
* Experience developing secure cloud, hybrid cloud, edge-to-cloud,
containerized, or enterprise platform architectures.
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, configuration management,
CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.
* Familiarity with containerization, Kubernetes, Docker, microservices
architectures, and cloud-native application deployment patterns.
* Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, storage, compute,
security, monitoring, and infrastructure operations.
* Ability to work with cross-functional teams of engineers, operators,
cybersecurity personnel, program managers, and government stakeholders in
dynamic mission environments.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain
architecture decisions, technical risks, dependencies, and recommendations to
technical, operational, and executive audiences.
DESIRED SKILLS:
* Experience supporting Navy warfighting concepts, distributed maritime
operations, mission engineering, or associated mission capabilities.
* Experience engineering, deploying, automating, and sustaining infrastructure
within AWS GovCloud or Azure Government environments.
* Experience with DoW cloud standards, Impact Levels 4, 5, and 6+, Zero Trust,
RMF, cybersecurity compliance, system hardening, STIGs, vulnerability
scanning, and patch remediation.
* Experience with AWS services such as EC2, Security Groups, S3, EBS, EFS,
Route 53, IAM policies and roles, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Lambda, ELB,
Availability Zones, VPCs, subnets, route tables, endpoints, NACLs, Transit
Gateways, VPC peering, AWS Directory Services, AWS Workspaces, and AWS CLI.
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and formats such as Terraform,
CloudFormation, YAML, JSON, Git-based workflows, and related automation
practices.
* Experience using scripting and programming languages such as Bash, Python,
PowerShell, and JavaScript to automate cloud deployment, configuration,
troubleshooting, monitoring, and operational tasks.
* Experience with cross-domain solutions, multi-level security architectures,
multi-classification environments, or cloud-based cross-domain
considerations.
* Experience with data streaming, event-driven architectures, real-time
analytics, distributed data platforms, or mission data integration.
* Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as
Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift Container Platform, Amazon EKS, and service
mesh environments.
* Experience supporting DoW, IC, Navy, tactical, shipboard, or operational
cloud environments.
