Distinguished/Sr Distinguished/Fellow Engineer - Applied AI and Optimization

BHE building a small, senior engineering team to solve high-value problems

across its energy businesses. Engineers will work directly with business and

operating leaders to identify opportunities, build solutions quickly and carry

successful products into production. The work will span software engineering,

data, forecasting, artificial intelligence and optimization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Own solutions from business problem through production deployment.

* Build software, data products and decision tools used directly by operators

and business teams.

* Work across forecasting, optimization, AI and workflow automation.

* Measure success through operating and financial outcomes, not activity or

prototypes.

* Make pragmatic architecture decisions and move quickly with incomplete

information.

* Establish the engineering practices and technical standards for a new team.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science,

Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

* Typically 10+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning,

artificial intelligence, or related technical disciplines for Distinguished

Engineer - Applied AI and Optimization position.

* Typically 12+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning,

artificial intelligence, or related technical disciplines for Sr

Distinguished Engineer - Applied AI and Optimization position.

* Typically 15+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning,

artificial intelligence, or related technical disciplines for Fellow Engineer

- Applied AI and Optimization position.

* Strong knowledge of AI/ML technologies, generative AI, software engineering

principles, cloud platforms, and modern development practices.

* Experience leading complex technical initiatives and influencing strategy

across teams and organizations.

* Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder

management skills.

* Ability to balance innovation, business objectives, risk management, and

operational excellence.

* Demonstrated experience building and scaling AI capabilities across multiple

organizations, including establishing foundational platforms, governance

models, operating practices, and talent strategies that enabled enterprise AI

adoption.

* Demonstrated success establishing AI programs, platforms, governance

frameworks, or engineering practices in organizations that were early in

their AI transformation journey.

Preferred skills:

* 10+ years of experience in the energy, utilities, or other highly regulated

industries.
