Job Description
Summary: A Vertica Senior Technical Support Engineer at Rocket Software delivers advanced Tier 3 Vertica support. They independently troubleshoot escalated issues, perform root-cause analysis, and serve as mentors for junior engineers. A Vertica Senior Technical Support Engineer at Rocket Software provides advanced Tier 3 support for complex customer environments.
This role involves independently troubleshooting escalated issues, performing detailed root-cause analysis, and mentoring junior engineers to drive overall team effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have: Strong Linux Expertise: Deep understanding of Linux distributions (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu), including file systems, memory management, and package management. Database Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts.
Vertica Architecture Knowledge: Solid understanding of Vertica’s columnar architecture, including projections, encoding, and compression techniques. Advanced Troubleshooting Skills: Experience using Vertica Management Console and performance tuning tools to identify and resolve system bottlenecks. Cloud & Storage Experience: Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly object storage technologies.
Systems & Networking Knowledge: Understanding of TCP/IP networking and containerized environments such as Kubernetes. Vertica Experience: Prior hands-on experience supporting or working with Vertica is strongly preferred. #LI-Remote #LI-JC1 Annual salary range for this position is between $89,000.00 - $120,150.00 gross before taxes. .
