AMD's Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) is designing, building and delivering innovative technology infrastructure enabling the digital world. We create AI-enabling rack server solutions that help the world’s leading companies turn their ideas into reality. AMD is looking for a Software Development Engineer who has a focus on hardware to join our growing team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for software design and development, and is diligent and passionate about technology. A successful candidate will need to employ strong knowledge in computer technologies, leadership skills in technical areas, and SW engineering expertise. Additionally, a strong knowledge in datacenter scale hardware and commodities such as CPUs, GPUs, DPUs, and network switches will help the candidate succeed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and drive execution of comprehensive, highly effective software for sophisticated new technology and new product introduction projects
Validate new SW features before releasing them to customers
Work directly with our customers to support and enable the manufacturing process
Contribute to a high-functioning feature team
Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them
Help contribute to the design and implementation of future architecture for a highly scalable, durable, and innovative system
Work very closely with dev teams and Project Managers to drive results
Up to 25% travel
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience developing production-ready code in languages such as Python, C, Rust, C++, C#, Java, Javascript, Shell/Bash, or Powershell.
Solid experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Containerd, and orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes or Slurm
Deep understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
Hands-on work with system board interfaces (i.e. I2C, PCIE, IPMI, and Redfish hardware interfaces), and networked communication protocols (i.e. TCP/IP, UDP)
Strong understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
Previous experience in the hyperscale compute architecture space is not a requirement, but a significant plus
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and technologies is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
