THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for a Software Development Engineer - Ray Tracing / Neural Rendering to join our growing team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team driving innovation in real-time rendering, ray tracing, and next-generation graphics technologies. You will help develop advanced rendering algorithms and software that enable industry-leading visual quality and performance on AMD hardware platforms.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a passion for computer graphics and rendering technology, and enjoys tackling challenging technical problems. A successful candidate will have strong expertise in software engineering, real-time rendering, GPU programming, and graphics algorithms, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with researchers and engineers in a fast-paced environment.
The candidate should be comfortable working across the full lifecycle of rendering technology development, from algorithm design and prototyping through implementation, optimization, validation, and deployment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and drive execution of advanced rendering algorithms and software for real-time ray tracing and global illumination technologies
Research, implement, validate, and optimize rendering techniques such as ReSTIR, path tracing, denoising, sampling, and spatiotemporal resampling methods
Contribute to a high-functioning graphics feature team focused on delivering industry-leading visual quality and performance
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including GPU architecture, driver, game engineering, and graphics research teams to develop and deploy new rendering technologies
Help contribute to the design and implementation of future rendering architectures, frameworks, and scalable graphics systems
Work very closely with developers, researchers, and project managers to drive graphics innovation from concept through production-quality implementation
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in C and C++
Strong understanding of real-time rendering, ray tracing, physically based rendering, Monte Carlo techniques, and global illumination algorithms
Experience developing GPU-accelerated algorithms using modern graphics APIs, shader languages, and parallel programming techniques
Solid understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, computer architecture, and performance optimization
Excellent design and code development skills, familiarity with Linux and modern software development tools and workflows
Experience profiling, debugging, and optimizing graphics workloads for performance and image quality
Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions for complex rendering challenges
Experience with real-time ray tracing research, ReSTIR-based algorithms, path tracing, sampling techniques, or publication-quality graphics research is a plus.
Experience using Cursor, Claude Code, Codex etc. for rendering-related code, especially neural rendering
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Graphics, or related technical discipline preferred.
