When working with junior ICs, I generally dedicate more time to teaching and mentoring. My goal is to enhance their knowledge and skills while boosting their confidence in their abilities. For instance, I make sure they have plenty of chances to ask questions or voice concerns, promoting an atmosphere of open communication. In contrast, with senior ICs, I typically concentrate on encouraging them to assume leadership roles in projects or tasks, leveraging their extensive experience. I see them as independent professionals who thrive in self-directed work environments. I offer them opportunities to mentor junior team members and actively engage them in the decision-making process. For both junior and senior ICs, it’s crucial to provide constructive feedback and acknowledge their contributions, fostering a positive work environment where everyone feels their efforts are appreciated.
