In my former position as a project manager, I oversaw several teams working on different projects. During a project review, one team member highlighted that my communication was not timely enough, which led to some confusion and delays in the project timeline. Initially, I felt a bit defensive, but I soon recognized the validity of their observation—I had been managing numerous tasks and hadn't prioritized prompt communication. I appreciated their honesty and decided to use their feedback to initiate positive changes. Going forward, I implemented a communication schedule, designating specific times in my day to reply to messages and emails, and committed to providing updates before the end of each day. Consequently, not only did our projects proceed more smoothly, but our team dynamic also improved. This experience taught me that clear and timely communication is essential for effective project management.
