During my time as a manager at XYZ Corp, I faced the difficult situation of having to terminate a long-term employee. Despite his talent, he consistently failed to meet performance expectations and milestones, even after multiple discussions and improvement plans. After discussions with HR and my supervisors, we concluded that it would be in the best interest of both the team and the employee to part ways. I held a private meeting with him to explain the reasons behind the decision, highlighting that we appreciated his contributions, but the organization required greater consistency. We provided him with a severance package and support in finding new employment. It was a challenging decision, but it was necessary for the productivity of the team and his personal development.
