In my current position as a network engineer at XYZ Company, we recently faced a major problem when our server went down, disrupting our internal communications. Upon receiving the initial reports, I started troubleshooting to identify the issue, suspecting it could be due to server overload. I examined the network for any traffic congestion and discovered that the high volume of traffic on our VPN was causing the server overload. My analytical skills and technical expertise were put to the test as I worked to pinpoint the problem, but my background in managing VPN traffic proved beneficial. I took the lead in addressing this issue and collaborated with the team to devise a plan that included load balancing and traffic distribution, which allowed us to effectively manage the VPN traffic. Ultimately, we restored full functionality without any further interruptions. This experience highlighted the necessity of being proactive and having a solid system for traffic distribution to avert similar problems in the future.
