In a previous role, I was involved in a website development project when suddenly, our site began to crash and became inaccessible to our clients. To put it simply, picture your computer server as a house hosting a continuous party—this is where your website resides. Then, out of nowhere, uninvited guests (which in tech terms refers to malicious traffic or spam requests) start arriving endlessly, overwhelming your space and preventing your genuine friends (legitimate users) from entering. This situation is known as a DDoS attack in technical language. The main challenge was to identify who these uninvited guests were, meaning we needed to pinpoint the additional unwanted traffic. To achieve this, we had to "track their footprints" by analyzing server logs and identifying certain patterns. Ultimately, we succeeded in blocking those disruptive intruders, allowing our home to return to normal and the party (our website) to resume.
