In my last role as a project manager, we had a significant client deliverable that was due in just two weeks. Out of the blue, a key team member became ill and would be unavailable for an indefinite period. As the project lead, I faced two choices: redistribute the workload among the remaining team members or bring in a short-term contractor to ensure we met the deadline. Given the already heavy workload of our team, I promptly decided to hire a contractor. I reviewed a list of past contractors we had worked with, assessed their skills against the tasks at hand, and managed to onboard one within two days. Consequently, we successfully met the client's deadline and received commendation for our diligent work. This experience highlights my capability to make swift decisions while prioritizing the team's and project's best interests.
