Our target users are individuals who are visually impaired or blind, and they frequently encounter difficulties when using smartphones due to the absence of visual cues, the challenge of navigating touch screens, and the necessity to memorize the locations of apps and menu structures. To address these challenges, our smartphone will incorporate a hybrid interface that combines tactile buttons with touch-based interactions. For example, tactile buttons designed with Braille patterns will allow blind users to directly engage with various functions. The touch functionality will be enhanced by advanced haptic feedback technology, which provides detailed touch sensations, allowing users to perceive on-screen objects and text, thereby facilitating easier internet navigation and reading content on the screen. Unique sounds linked to specific actions or notifications can be personalized, adding an auditory dimension to user interactions. Additionally, voice recognition will play a vital role, allowing users to operate their devices using voice commands. Regarding software, the phone will feature built-in screen-reading capabilities that provide audio descriptions of on-screen content, along with other essential assistive tools tailored to meet the needs of the blind community.
