In my role as a Senior Program Manager at a large IT firm, I regularly engaged in high-profile projects. My strategy for preventing risks involved proactively establishing a risk mitigation plan. My initial step was to pinpoint potential risks, typically through brainstorming sessions with team members and other stakeholders. After identifying the risks, I categorized them according to their severity or impact and the probability of their occurrence. Next, I developed a risk mitigation plan for each identified risk, which might involve allocating additional resources, adjusting timelines, or modifying project specifications. For example, during a recent cloud migration project, we recognized a potential risk of data loss. To address this, we implemented multiple layers of data backups, even though it increased the project's cost and duration. Fortunately, while we encountered some data discrepancies during the migration, our backup strategy ensured that there was no data loss, and the project was successfully completed.
