My design for a remote multiplayer Tic Tac Toe game begins with the user interface, where players have the option to start a new game or join an existing one. When a new game is initiated, a unique identifier is generated for the game session, which can be shared with the opponent for joining. The next component is the game server, which manages ongoing game sessions, verifies players' actions, and assesses the game status following each move. The server must be resilient enough to support multiple concurrent sessions. In terms of data structure, we can represent the game board as a 3x3 matrix. The game rules, including valid moves and win conditions, can be implemented within the server. For player communication, we can utilize a websocket connection, offering full duplex communication between the client and the server. This allows the server to instantly notify all participating clients of any game updates. Lastly, for data persistence, we could implement a database to record previous games, which can serve analytical purposes or enable users to review their game history.
