A prevalent problem with modern TV remote designs is the excessive number of unnecessary buttons, which can lead to confusion, particularly for users who may not be technologically adept. Given that the primary user group includes a mix of young individuals, adults, and seniors—who often struggle with complex remote designs—I would advocate for a minimalist design approach. I would limit the buttons to just the essentials: Volume control, Channel control, Power, and Navigation buttons. Implementing a voice command feature could also be advantageous, as it alleviates the issue of button overload and enhances accessibility, particularly for users with visual impairments. Furthermore, to enhance aesthetic appeal, a sleek and slim design with tactilely distinct buttons could greatly improve the user experience. The design should also prioritize ergonomics; thus, a slight curve instead of the conventional straight shape might better accommodate the user's hand. I believe that incorporating these elements into a TV remote control design can make it more user-friendly and accessible to a broader audience.
