Google Maps is a fantastic navigation tool, yet many users still struggle with finding parking, particularly in larger urban areas. To address this issue, we could develop a feature that not only highlights nearby parking options but also offers detailed information about them. This feature would need to display real-time availability for both public and private parking spaces. Data could be sourced from parking lot operators and local municipalities. Additionally, it could include details such as pricing, hours of operation, and user ratings for each parking facility. To integrate this with existing Google Maps functionalities, a 'Find Parking' button could appear after a user selects their destination. Clicking this button would present a list of nearby parking options along with their respective details. Challenges may arise in obtaining real-time data, navigating legal issues related to public parking information, and addressing potential inaccuracies in user-generated content. There could also be privacy concerns, as tracking available parking spots might require access to user location data. To evaluate the feature, we could conduct an A/B test where one group of users has access to the parking feature while another group does not. We could measure the feature's effectiveness by monitoring usage patterns and surveying the satisfaction levels of both groups.
