While designing the web application for our client, an e-commerce platform, my first challenge was to grasp their specific needs and market positioning. To achieve this, I initiated user research through surveys and observational studies to thoroughly understand their target audience and their behaviors. After gathering the data, I utilized it to create user personas and journey maps, which helped me gain deeper insights into user needs and challenges. With this information, I organized a brainstorming session with the team to explore various design strategies. We then developed wireframes and created low-fidelity prototypes. We carried out usability testing with these prototypes, collected feedback, and began refining our designs. The process was dynamic, allowing for experimentation, learning from errors, and making enhancements, until we ultimately found the optimal design solution – one that was user-friendly, aligned with business objectives, and adhered to technical limitations. The key lessons I learned from this project were the significance of user-centered design, teamwork, and iterative development.
