In my previous position as a data analyst at an e-commerce firm, I traced purchases back to the initial marketing campaigns that drove them. This process required analyzing data from our CRM and web analytics tools, employing unique tracking URLs, and establishing accurate attribution models to connect purchases to specific campaigns. For example, I distinguished between the number of customers who made a purchase right after engaging with a social media advertisement and those who first read a blog post, subscribed to our newsletter, and then completed a purchase. The insights gained from these metrics enabled us to evaluate the success of various marketing campaigns and modify our strategy accordingly. For instance, if a campaign focused on blogs consistently resulted in more conversions than social media ads, we would reconsider our budget allocation for the latter.
