As part of my Master's program, I undertook a project focused on analyzing real estate data to forecast housing prices. The objective was to estimate the selling price of a property based on various factors such as size, location, age, and available amenities. I independently oversaw every phase of the data science life cycle. In the data collection phase, I employed web scraping techniques to extract information from multiple online real estate platforms. For data preparation, I utilized Python's Pandas library for data cleaning and transformation, along with Numpy for numerical calculations. Creating the predictive model involved experimenting with various regression models. Ultimately, I selected the gradient boosting model, as it yielded the most precise predictions. The project presented significant challenges, particularly due to numerous missing values and the high dimensionality of the dataset, which I addressed through dimensionality reduction techniques. By the end of the project, my model achieved an 85% accuracy rate in predicting house selling prices. This experience allowed me to apply my comprehensive data science skills, from data collection to model implementation.
