While working in product development, I have frequently encountered situations where product requirements conflict. When this occurs, my first step is to identify the conflicting requirements, followed by analyzing each one based on client or business needs, potential return on investment, legal commitments, and other factors. The goal is to find the most effective solution while considering the constraints of limited resources and tight deadlines. Nevertheless, determining which requirement should be prioritized involves a collaborative decision-making process that relies on communication among teams. Ultimately, this decision is made by senior leadership or a Product Owner who comprehends the broader implications for the business. However, as part of the team, we all share the responsibility of mitigating any negative effects that may arise.
